HOW TO BE EXCITED FOR TODAY
Thanks for stopping by <3
Last week I was reminded by a fellow yogi about the importance of being excited for life each and every day. It couldn't have come at a better time for me. In the depths of dealing with two back-to-back tragedies, I was reminded that I am still in control of how I feel each day. That it is my outlook that can change the tone of my entire day.
Although I have been dealing with so much, I have been trying to focus on the good of each day and having something to look forward to even if that is just a nice hot cup of coffee each morning that I wake up, a phone call or a hug from a loved one, or taking an hour out of my day to exercise, read a book, or even to take a nap.
So how to we ensure that we are excited for today?
1. LOOK FORWARD TO THE LITTLE THINGS //
It can be as simple as starting your day off with a hot cup of coffee or ending your day with your favourite t.v. show, nothing is too simple to look forward to during your day. It’s the little things that really can change your outlook.
If you are having a tough day, take time to look forward to the little things in life that you enjoy so much and notice if your mood picks up a little!
2. PLAN FOR SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO //
I know that my family likes to have a trip or event to look forward to and can keep you going during difficult times. If you don’t have the time or finances for a trip, maybe it’s as simple as planning a night to the movies or a big family dinner you want to host. I always find it amazing how time flies and can feel a bit easier when you have something big to plan and look forward to.
Right now we are looking forward to a warm trip early in 2019. We are also looking forward to a trip down to Vegas to see the Canucks play the Knights while hanging out with some friends while we are there.
3. TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR DAY //
Sometimes everything feels hard and it might be impossible to plan anything due to your circumstances. During these times I make sure to take time for myself. Maybe I take a nice warm bath, start a new book, take a nap or even just sit in silence and journal. Taking control in some way during your day can make all the difference when you feel you have no control in what is going on around you.
4. GET INVOLVED WITH THOSE AROUND YOU //
If you aren’t feeling very excited about what is going on in your own life, get involved with something exciting going on with a friend or family member. Maybe someone is getting married or having a baby. These are great opportunities to get involved with something happy and exciting.
You might even consider volunteering somewhere to give yourself a sense of purpose and somewhere to focus your energy and attention on!
We can’t control what happens around us, but we can control how we react and our outlook on our situation.
Are you excited for today? Please share in the comments!
